Bev and Pat

Sitting Down with Bev

Interviewed December 30th, 2022

Bev grew up in Roseville, MN with her loving parents Glen & Tebby (Octavia). Her mother stayed at home with the kids and her father worked as a press setter printer at the Pioneer Press. Bev is the oldest of four children with her siblings being Buck, Theodore, and Judy. Thinking about her childhood made Bev light up, she shared that her parents kept any hardships away from the kids. They were a funny couple that had fun arguments. Her father was the handyman of the family and loved to fish. They loved taking car trips as a family, going to the lake, visiting Leona, Joe & Marty, and playing games such as cribbage, 500, euchre, and chess.

Bev shared a story from her childhood with us. From the 2nd story window of their house, Bev could watch kids playing on the rock right outside of their house. She was forced to stay in her room but so desperately wanted to be playing with the kids that she leaned too far out of the window and fell! Bev was 5 years old at the time and Pat always teased that that fall explained a lot!

Bev attended Wilson High School and was the Homecoming Queen of her class. She shared that she had tried out for the cheer squad but ripped her skirt during tryouts. She spent her time working in the library and reading. When it came time to go to the homecoming dance, her father escorted her and her friends thought that he was her boyfriend due to his good looks.
